I love making French Toast, especially since it's incredibly easy to make vegan. I use this recipe time and time again. All the ingredients are staples in my house and are probably staples in yours too.
Ingredients
6 slices of bread (I always buy bread from the bakery section of the grocery store. I hate the thin slice regular sandwich bread when it comes to making french toast.)
3/4 cup of all purpose or spelt flour
1-1/4 cup of water
1 tbs of sugar
1 Tsp of Cinnamon
1 Tsp of Vanilla extract
Preparation
Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix well
place a skillet over medium heat and add in the vegan butter
Once the butter is hot take the bread and coat it in the batter. Making sure to let the excess batter drip off.
Carefully add the bread to the hot skillet.
Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side.
Serve with fresh berries and maple syrup.
COOKING NOTES: One thing to remember is to not try and flip them too early. When their ready to flip they will not stick to the pan and easily lift up. It’s always a good idea to use a non stick skillet and make sure it’s on medium heat!!
